Skyrim PC: Durnehviir Quest Problem

Skyrim: Durnehviir Quest

BUGS: "It is possible for you to learn the shout, but never be able to
summon Durnehviir. This can happen if the game gives you all three
words at once, and you leave for Tamriel without speaking to
Durnehviir again before exiting the Soul Cairn."

My problem is the above bug happens every time. I cannot complete the
quests even using quest-stage cheat.

Note that I DO speak with Durnehviir a 2nd time, after exiting from
the Boneyard but cannot talk to him again, ever.

Also, unlike when the Greybeards teach you Shouts AND give you the
power to use them, when you get Durnehviir Shouts you do NOT the power
to use the first one.

Even when I do get a Dragon Shout and can use it for the First
Durnehviir Shout, the objective "Learn the first word of Durnehviir's
Shout" does NOT complete, therefore you cannot complete the "Summon
Durnehviir in Tamriel" objective.

Has anyone gotten this quest-line to work?

If YES, how? I guess, how do you get Durnehviir to teach you the first
word of his shout AND give you the power to use it.


PS: Via a forum I was told I had to summon Durnehviir FIRST to learn
the first word in the shout. But how can you do that without the
first word? The Durnehviir Shout is to summon him, isn't it?

The shout you learn from summoning Durnheviir is Soul Tear, and it is
totally separate from the shout to summon him, which I thought you
always did learn completely at once. The fact that there are 2
separate shouts involved here means I'm not exactly sure just what
your problem is.

the Unofficial Dawnguard patch is "It was possible for the summon
effect attached to the Durnehviir shout to be blocked by spell
absorption."

And yes, the "Learn the first word of Durnheviir's Shout" objective
does refer to Soul Tear and Soul Tear will not be learned until after
speaking to him when he is summoned in the outside world.

From the Steam Forums someone noted that I have to cast the spell on
the ground, not the sky.

Went back to the WiKi articles on Durnheviir and there IS one sentence
that says the shout works like a conjuration spell, which have to be
cast on something.

IF this is true about the Durnheviir Summoning shout, this shows one
of many inconsistencies in Beth games. In the Main Quest you summon a
dragon using the Call Dragon shout AT THE SKY. The Durnheviir
Summoning shout SHOULD work the same way.

I've already started a new game so I'll have to wait until I can try
this.

i had same problem, than i saw the some youtube video, what i did was i over console added all 3 words (even i had them already shown as know, but for some reason that did not work, than i got to whitehorse on ladge open space, climb up big rock, pointed right below me and shouted - it worked, Durn spawned , learned soul tear from him and done - hope it helps.

summon durnehviir works like a conjuration spell. you have to point at the ground to use it. i picked it up about a year ago, so i dont remember all the details. hope it helps.
