Dro Nahrahe - DOA

I started the game again!

Whilst at level one, i was travelling past Fanacasecel (Waterfront District)
when Dro Nahrahe was found dead on the road!

Does anyone know if this character has later use and should I cheat and
resurrect him(/her?)? Does this matter and am I missing out on anything as
amongst other things the character has keys to Bravil Castle.

While on this topic I have noticed that characters do walk the
roads..especiallyat night. Does it matter if other characters (i.e.
bandits, wizards, wlves etc) kill them?

Will they be resurrected in the latter of the game perhaps? Your imput is
appreciated

Cheerz!

All the "important" persons in the game can't killed. That's why you
see a different icon on your aim, when looking at them. So I don't
think, you should worry about the dead person. She might be a servant,
which could be the reason to her having keys to Bravil Castle.
Especially at night most characters sleep, so that part I can't
understand. But no it's not important whether or not people die in the
game. Immortality against the blade is a gift to many of the
inhabitants of Cyrodiil. Lucky them.

Depends on your definition of "important". For example, if the stupid
orc falls down the bridge, you'll never be able to buy a house in that
town... So "importance" is a matter of your priorities :-)

The critical characters to the main plot (and, I think, to guild
promotion tracks) are protected from death. You can tell who they are
by the little crown icon that shows up instead of a face when you talk
to them.

However, many characters that have importance in some respect can die.
A notable one is that the orc who sells the player house in Skingrad
has a tendency to fall through a crack in the bridge to the castle
while on his daily walks. Once he dies, the player cannot buy that
house any longer. Since the house is expensive--and it therefore takes
the player a while to accumulate the money to buy the house--many
players find they cannot buy that house as the only character who will
sell it is dead by the time they have enough money to acquire it. I
think this happens to me more often than not (though, I do tend to play
MW more than Oblivion, so I can't say what the percentage is).
Bethesda really should fix this (either by fixing the bridge or,
preferably, by having things like sales default to someone else if the
seller dies....in the real world, houses don't cease to be for sale if
a buttler dies). Well, in the real world, I would never go dungeoning
out where the enemies characteristics grew as fast as mine did, but
where the packs of enemies grew, too.

In any case, it is pretty much not possible to protect NPCs from random
deaths. Especially those who wander the roads or who want to go to
Oblivion for some obscure reason.

The keys to the castle could be a nice bonus compensation, BTW.

OMG! So that's where he went!

If I find the body, can I get the key? :)

I have never found the body. I have fallen through the bridge myself
(ouch!), and surmised that he did also from the green marker location.
That bridge is a menace!

So why not use the resurrection cheat? Or does this have some negative
effect on the game?

No reason I can see. I've had to resurrect one quest NPC and had no
problems because of it.

The Orc doesn't have the key to the player house. Its all scripted.
You must buy it from him, can't just pick pocket the key. ;)

How does one determine the correct "target actor name" to use with
"resurrect"? Is it just the name you see on the screen (taken from a
time when the actor was alive)? (I'd thought you had to have a body to
resurrect, but the oblivion wiki implies you just need the target actor
name).

Just hit the tild ~ button and point to the dead character (nice and close).
as you point, left click the mouse and a code will appear at the top of your
screen eg {123ab454}; so the next step is to type in resurrect {123ab454}and
then hit the tild~ to resume!

Thisis what I do For the PC version....never touched an Xbox so would not
know other ways!

So far, there has been no dead body....by the time I notice he is
missing, there is nothing left. could it be he falls underneath the
landscape? I actually looked for this once. However, unlike MW, the
"underneath" part goes on 'forever'....there does not seem to be an
ultimate floor. Maybe I'll try to get the code while he is still
alive. Character bodies do tend to stay around forever (Glarthir is
still lying in the street). Maybe my surmise that he falls to his
death (because I fell through the bridge) is in error. I think I
recall trying that placeatpc command and it not working....not sure
though.

Thanks for the info.

You can check the status of the Count's butler by entering the follow
command in the console.

GetDeadCount 28FB6
If it returns "1.00" he's dead.
If it returns "0.00" he's still alive.

If he is dead, enter the following command into the console
to spawn a new version of him at your character's current position.

player.placeatme 00028FB6

I've tried this and it does work. I was able to purchase Rosethorn Hall
after spawning a new instance of the butler.

Many thanks. I have copied the info onto my hard drive. It will be a
while before I have money for Rosethorn Hall, though.

This was fixed back in the first release of the Unofficial Patch (July 2006)
by making him invincible:

"Shum gro-Yarug (Skingrad Count's butler) is now flagged as essential so
won't die falling off the bridge, and if he's already dead in an existing
game he'll reappear in Castle Skingrad County Hall. "

No mention of Dro Nahrahe - I presume in Alan's game, she died due to
"natural" causes.

I found the info on UESP:

It seems you can let her RIP... ;-)

No, but you can look for their IDs in UESP and resurrect them with
console commands.
