Vivec Questions

Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding vivec,

1). I am a member of the Morag Tong and reached the level of Knower, but
when I ask for any more writs they just tell me there aren't any. How do I
advance above knower? or where do I go to get more writs?

2). I have come across temples in the Canalworks of some of the cantons and
when I enter am promptly attacked, I haven't heard about these yet so I'm
wondering whether it is OK to go kill all and loot the places or whether
these play a part in an upcoming quest?

3). As mentioned earlier I am a member of the Morag Tong, also of the
Thieves Guild and the Blades, is there a limit to how many factions you can
join or if you are a member of any factions are there restrictions on
joining others, also do any of the missions clash with the other factions.

Many thanks for any help

Nick

Do you ask for advancement and get told you need to do more quests or is
it
your skills that are lacking? I can't remember much about the locations of
the quest givers but have you completed ones in the other halls (There is
one in Ald-runn and Sadrith Mora).
Yes, it tells me that I need to do more writs, but doesn't offer them, I
haven't been to either Ald-runn or Sadrith Mora prperly yet just passed
through, I will go take a look.

Thanks.

You won't find any more. You need to find the Sanguine items.
Perferably, don't ask for advancement unless you actually have to, until
you have all, what, 37 or so. If you get them all, the Guildmaster will
give you a completely unique and damned useful spell.
Does Elo Hlaalu actually tell you who you have to whack for all the 27
threads of whatever the Sanguine items were called? If not where do
you get the clues? I don't want to go around whacking people at random
or pickpocketing for no apparent reason unless I have info that
suggests where I should be looking....
He tells you were two or three of them are and one is found during one of
the guild's quest. Several are found in the main quest bu I have no idea how
people find the others.

If you're playing a male character, Ahnassi in Pelagiad will tell you
how to find one.

Oh I've already got a list - it's just that I don't feel something
like what is quite an interesting quest should rely on a cheat to
finish. Several of the item holders on the list are described as
non-violent and I don't feel like 'taunt - fight - slay' ing every
creature in Morrowind blindly just to get the right one.

I would NOT for instance balk at a quest that required me to kill
something like 50 Dremora Lords with the reward being a book of quest
locations...

Those temples with the daedric statues in them? You can happily loots and
kill at will.
Yeah, and talk to the statues, because they often give you interesting
quests.

Go. Kill. Loot. One of the statues (Sheogorath?) will give you an absurd
quest.

You can't join more than one house.

Actually there's a program bug where if you're non-Hlaalu you can
simultaneously get admitted to Hlaalu and advanced to guildmaster more
or less immediately.

It has to do with the Morag Tong quest where you kill the two
assassins in the Dren Plantation basement, open a chest with a quite
high lock level and find a note where the Duke's brother is supposedly
plotting against his brother the Duke. Showing the note to the Duke in
Ebonheart gets you jumped to GM of Hlaalu which screwed me royally
when I was trying to get to GM of Telvanni and had to assassinate a
low-level Hlaalu lord in his stronghold.

Said lord didn't appear if you were also Hlaalu thus making the
Telvanni advancement quest un-doable.

Well I'm not solid on patch numbers but that happened with Tribunal
installed and update against the Bethesda website run.

Is there anywhere other than Eno Hlaalu where you can get the 27
Threads quests? Reason I ask is that I've advanced far enough that the
next step is guildmaster at which point Hlaalu disappears either
through retirement or death and I'd REALLY like to finish this
collection of quests.

Nope. It's always best to finish the threads before advancing to
grandmaster.
I *know* Hlaalu disappears after you make grandmaster.

My question is basically he doesn't seem to be giving me quests for
more than about 2/3 of the threads - is there anyone else at one of
the other Morag Tong locations I should be asking about the Threads?

I'll elaborate on what I said, because I *did* answer your question:

No, only Eno Hlaalu takes the threads of the webspinner. Thus, if you
want the quest reward for the threads, it's always best to finish the
threads before advancing to grandmaster, and thus causing Eno to vanish.
He does not give you quests for all of the threads.

He does not give you quests for all of the threads.
So other than either reading walkthroughs (which I'd rather not do) or
whacking civilians at random (thus making the guards and ordinators
mad at me) how do I complete this quest?
I know it can be done because I've seen the walkthroughs but how can I
do this quest "honestly"?
I'm not sure. To be honest, I have honestly gathered 20 or so threads
in-game, between Ahnassi's tip, random dungeon looting, and Eno's
instructions. I guess that sums it up - go check out Daedric shrines,
esp. to whoever-it-is-they-worship (Boethiah?).

Kill everybody in tombs caves etc. There is one character you should not
kill in tomb and the game will tell you when you meet him. get into the
habit of saving ast the cave/tomb door before going in. I do this every time
and do not have to waste time retracing all my actions up to that point.
