Dark Brotherhood bug

Hi,

In Tribunal, I found the Dark Brotherhood hideout, found the leader,
and when his hit points get down to a certain level, I get a
conversation window that keeps saying the message about how dare I
enter the lair of the dark brotherhood and that he will finish the
contract on me....I repeatedly clicked on goodbye to no avail....tried
all of the conversation options as well as the persuasions and still
just kept repeating the same message over and over. Tried killing him
in one shot with a "juiced up" character, tried pickpocketing him,
tried talking to him while invisible....what should I do?

This was very helpful to me as well.

Damn but that was annoying, I had to exit the game to get the blasted
thing to stop scrolling.

I let Calvus Horatius (grunt for hire) do the dirty work for me when
it came down to killing the guy. I stand back and fling arrows from a
safe distance.

Now I know what it feels like to be middle management.

I gave Calvus some decent armor and weapons to use (courtesy of the
editor gods) and I'm quite happy with what he does, but I'm a little
bummed that I wasn't able to change his name (and ID) to something
that rolls off the tongue a little easier.

Something manly like Trogdor.

You know, I'd say it would be a good idea to put together an FAQ for the
stuff that has easy but maybe not widely advertised solutions like this,
but I'm wondering how many would actually read it.

I've just taken my lvl 42 character over to Mournhold and was
exploring in the sewers. I found the guys you're talking about and
found the guy who has to be their leader (he's the only one with a
name). Unfortunately the dialog box goes into an endless loop when he
attacks me - is this because there's a quest I have yet to be given
concerning him?

(I have killed 20-30 Dark Brotherhood assassins and have gone back to
see Creeper for a mountain of gold. I also got 9 Daedric Shortswords
which at 14000 each is way more time with Creeper than I intend to
spend.)

I got completely fed up with the mudcrab and the Creeper, so
I downloaded a mod called Ogrim_Trader_in_Caldera.zip from
morrowindfiles.com which places a similar merchant in Caldera
who has 500,000 gold. Either the designers screwed up when
they created items that are too valuable, or the screwed up in
not giving us any place to sell them. Either way this mod will
fix the problem and end your frustration.

Actually my frustration was more due to the fact I couldn't kill this
Dark Brotherhood leader due to the program bug than that I couldn't
sell all the stuff. This is my second play-through of Tribunal - and
already it is confirming my memory of it as decidedly buggy.

Case in point: I do the Temple quest to kill the Altmer who are
training the goblins. After much goblin slicing and dicing I get to
the Altmer, kill them, loot one body, check the other but don't take
anything because he's not carrying anything interesting and return
back to the Temple only to be told Almalexia's not pleased with me
because I only killed one of them and let the other get away - and got
a reward but clearly not THE reward...sorry - the second dude is
definitely dead. All I failed to do was to completely loot his
body......I've also found myself sticking my head through walls that
were not sufficiently solid...

I take it you've installed BloodMoon already?

This is a known issue and a patch (under BloodMoon) is available.

Darn. I paralised then killed him so I missed that. Fortunately the
king's chief guard said it was a misunderstanding and wouldn't happen again.

Right after I killed the bitch and his bitch guards is when I knew it
wouldn't happen again. And I got a nice ring out it to boot.
