Post by ToolPackinMamaPost by XocyllPost by T987654321There's new video of the epic Skyrim mod Skywind on YouTube. Can't wait for it!
It looks quite interesting but the one main question I had wasn't
answered in the video.
What about the various features that were in Morrowind (and earlier
games) that got dropped out by Bethesda in Oblivion and Skyrim?
Stats, spells like levitation
LOL that is the first thing I wondered too. Certainly levitation spells
can be created in the Skyrim mod. I have seen flying mount mods, etc.
Oh I have used levitation and chameleon - spells of the third era I
think the mod was called - also had water walking, which you'd think
would be a standard spell for a people that live near a freezing cold
ocean. "Oh no the ship is sinking!", <cast>, "Ok guys, run to shore
before it wears off."
Post by ToolPackinMamaI actually still am playing Morrowind sometimes, LOL, and what I most
wish for in Skywind is old-style spell-creation.
That's what I missed the most. I tried a couple of mods that tried to
add it, but they were not very successful.
Post by ToolPackinMamaI also really liked the Oblivion-style enchanting system. I doubt they
will carry that over.
I don't recall now exactly what it was Oblivion did.
As I recall Morrowind basically had the same kind of magic item creation
as Daggerfall, only fewer items and fewer effects, but I petered out in
Oblivion - the endless sameness of the endgame put me to sleep (enter
oblivion gate, got to tower, climb towers, crossing back and forth till
you get to the end, close portal, move to next portal, repeat.)
(Although I cheated slightly since I had a flying mod and flew up the
towers instead of the endless back and forth climb - still tedious.)
Watching paint dry would have been a contender for excitement.
That's why I want a Skyfall (Daggerrim?) with all those choices you had
in Daggerfall, but a modern graphics engine. Souls that had inherent
effects that items were imbued with, interesting effects like extra mana
when critters are near, or at night or..., the ability to climb a wall,
or bash a lock open.
It doesn't have to be as large, or have the randomly assembled dungeons,
but damn that game had pretty much every feature you could want in an
RPG as well as some that the average gamer wouldn't have thought of,
like letters of credit, because gold is HEAVY, or the ability to access
your horse and cart at the entrance to the dungeon, without leaving and
resetting the dungeon so you could offload loot and not get overloaded.
