Killing Adamus Phillida without getting

Hi!

In one quest of the dark brotherhood, "permanent retirement", you have
to kill Adamus Phillida.

Is it possible to do this without a bounty beeing set on my head?

I shot him with the Rose of Sithis and am sure that noone saw me (even
not his Bodyguard), but right after shooting him my new fee is 40 Gold.

I checked and had no bounty straight after I did the deed; however, my
sneak was fairly high and I was also running under 93% Chameleon at the
time. Also, 40 is far too low to be a death bounty - they're always
1000. Maybe you did something else?

If you shoot him with the Rose of Sithis, you get 40 for assault. You do
not get the extra 1000 for actually killing him that way due to a bug --
IE, the arrow just sends him the "kill" command, without implicating the PC
in any way, or increasing his bounty.

40 is the standard bounty for assault. Normally what I find is that I
attack someone, but if I don't get the target in one blow they have a
chance to cry out, thus the assault charge -- and sometimes I get the
assault charge even if I *do* get them in one blow.

I don't think so.

There's another assignment for the Dark Brotherhood that involves
killing a guard, and I've not been able to do that without getting a
bounty either - even if I wait in the inn she lives at in full sneak
mode until she returns, and kill her with one blow in a x6 sneak attack.
